THE GATE: WASHINGTON, D.C.

By Tracy Ruleman, Lead Intercessor for Master Potter

The Gate, A Place of His Presence

My husband and I pastor a group called “The Gate” in Washington, D.C. The name was given to us in vision and prophecies by God and refers to Gen. 28:17. This scripture is where Jacob had the dream of a ladder set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven. The Lord, standing above it, spoke to Jacob of His purpose, destiny and promise to be with him and his descendants until all that the Lord had spoken was fulfilled. Jacob awoke from the dream saying, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” We believe our worship, intercession, hunger and desire for the Manifest Presence of God to come and reside in our midst has opened this gate into the heavenlies. We don’t see ourselves in the traditional, cultural definition of the church but as a portal, a doorway, a gate, with direct access to the Throne Room. We want to worship and intercede in the Manifest Presence of God, face-to-face in visitation, where He can extend His Kingdom in us and through us and into the cities where we reside.

One elderly prayer veteran of the New Hebrides revival said, “If you ever find Him, never, never, never, never let go!” What does that mean? It means that if you manage to get the door of Heaven propped open, don’t ever let it close again (God’s Favorite House pg.135). God has called us as intercessory gatekeepers, to hold open the access (gate), so that others can enter in. We have established a spiritual beachhead, a place where the Manifest Presence is welcome in the city. When we first moved here ten years ago, there wasn’t a place that we knew of where God’s presence was so powerfully manifest. Now, all over the city and region, there are places of the presence of God. Our heart cry is to see the glory of the Lord fall on this capitol city and metro area, gripping it in a mighty move of God, changing the very culture because men’s hearts are on fire with a passion for Jesus and His Kingdom.

The Gate, An Embassy of Holy Spirit

I live in a city of embassies. These embassies are the literal ground of the countries they represent. God has called us to be an embassy of His Holy Spirit. The Kingdom is within us; we are the literal ground of the kingdom we represent, the carriers of His glory. The definition of an embassy is the ambassador and his staff. It’s not just a building, therefore the embassy can move around to wherever the ambassador and his staff take residence. The ambassador is the highest ranking appointed and accredited representative in residence on foreign soil. He is authorized to act and speak on behalf of his government. “Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” (II Cor.5:20) As ambassadors of His Kingdom, the Lord has opened up a place of grace and authority to speak blessing over our city, to weep for her sins and to call forth her divine purpose and destiny. Washington, D.C. is a city of nations and the church has a unique opportunity to touch the nations of the world without ever having to cross a boundary line! This truly should be “a city set on a hill, a light to the world.” (Matt. 5:14)

Another function of an embassy is to provide a place of refuge for its citizens living or visiting in foreign lands. If your life was threatened while you were outside your country, you could flee to your embassy. As soon as you pass through “The Gate” of your embassy, you come under the protection of your government; you are on the ground of your homeland. As long as you remain within the confines of your embassy, you cannot be molested. We are ambassadors of His Kingdom, embassies in this hostile world. We are “under” the blood, bought and paid for by Christ’s sacrificial offering. We are the cities of refuge where those who would flee the darkness of this world can find the mercy seat of God.

The Gate, A Gateway to the City

We live and have our meetings at the Northwest gate to the city. We literally live and meet on the boundary line between D.C. and Maryland. We believe the Lord put us here, along with many others, as watchmen on the wall. We, along with other pastors and leaders, are saying “NO” to the forces of evil trying to penetrate our city borders and a resounding “YES” to the purposes of God being released. We welcome those that the Lord is sending into the Washington D.C. area to pray for and bless this city and nation. We, along with you, join the chorus of prayers “that the knowledge of the glory of the Lord will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea!!”

The above article was written by Tracy Ruleman. Tracy is a powerful, prophetic teacher who serves as the lead intercessor for Master Potter Ministries. Your support means so much to us!

Since September 11, many itinerant ministries have experienced a significant drop in financial support. Some people are afraid to fly to conferences, which has resulted in the cancellation of some speaking engagements and lower turnouts at those that have taken place. With the financial uncertainties that our economy has suffered, offerings and love gifts have been reduced as givers “tighten their belts” or “save for a rainy day.”

As we come to the close of the 2001 year, please consider a gift to Master Potter Ministries. Your gifts have made all that we do possible! Contributions can now be accepted through our website. Your gift is tax-deductible as allowed by law and a receipt will be available for you to print from your computer.
