Catholic Mystics
The Lord is in the process of healing the schism between the Protestant and Catholic believers. We need to put our focus where there is unity - the cross and the blood.
Since Martin Luther and the Reformation, we non-Catholics protest anything that’s Catholic. I believe the Lord wants to uncap the ancient wells of the Catholic mystics and desert Fathers and bring them into the Protestant Church.
Fiery forerunners such as John of the Cross, Bernard of Clairvaux, Catherine of Sienna, and Teresa of Avila inspire us. They possessed powerful keys to unlock the heavens. These mystics have inspired prayer movements throughout the centuries, affecting generations from the common people to politicians and rulers.
These Mothers and Fathers of the Church are a part of our genetic DNA and had powerful revelations and visitations. Prayer furnaces have started all over the world, whether they are called IHOP, The Burning Bush, The Lighthouse, etc. This fire of intercession and travail is moving across all boundaries and bringing healing and unity to the Body of Christ.
Charismatic Catholics
I met an amazing woman named Kim Catherine-Marie Kollins last year at the International House of Prayer. She is a leader in European and international Charismatic groups. This American woman was saved as a young child and later returned to the Lord and was filled with the Spirit in 1978.
She was established in a full-time ministry by 1980 and moved to Europe in 1982, joining the Catholic Church in 1984. I’m so impressed by her hunger and passion for Jesus and her heart to see the Bride healed.
"Burning Bush International" is a Catholic Prayer Movement founded by Kim in 1997. Her vision is that every believer will be awakened to the call to prayer and that there will be flames of adoration and intercession burning in every nation.
I was invited to participate in a school of intercession she arranged in collaboration with ICPE, the International Catholic Program of Evangelization. It’s located in the Black Forest region of southern Germany. Kim asked me to join her for one week in July to minister in a pilot project concerning her vision for prayer.
Do You Love the Bride?
I was exposed to a group of dedicated people living sacrificial lives who are impacting their world with the Gospel. What was so exciting for me was to see the Manifest Presence powerfully gripping and touching them. Most of these people had been to meetings in the past where Holy Spirit had moved. However, they had not personally experienced His presence in the various physical manifestations that occurred during our time together.
Some of them live in community and know each other very well so they knew it was sovereign as they went through deliverance, inner healing, and radical impartations. It was evident to all of them as people wept, laughed and prayed for each other with anointing and power.
Come Holy Spirit!
One night Kim ministered at a convent organized by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and asked me to minister with her. At one point I suggested that she ask them to personally invite Holy Spirit to come, which she did. Both of us were astounded because very few responded!
Kim asked the priest to tell the people they were allowed to ask for the presence of God to come. The priest did release the people but few spoke out. We had some breakthrough that night but I knew we were up against a religious stronghold.
Silence! A Religious Stronghold!
Later that night I pleaded with the Lord to show me keys to unlock understanding for the class. He showed me that one of the religious strongholds was a false understanding by many Catholics that adoration can only be demonstrated by silent reverence. But, the full expression of adoration can be laughter, weeping, prayer, and silence, all the diverse emotions and passions of our human frame. When I shared this with the school, wonderful freedom, deliverance and healing took place, activating the troops to move radically in Jesus.
