April 2003

Dear Friend,

In this day, when leaders of some Muslim groups are proclaiming Jihad and calling their people to become martyrs, we as Christians must re-evaluate our own commitment to our Mighty God. Are you willing to lay down everything, even your life, for the one who laid his life down for you?

Rev. 12:10-11

Then I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven 'Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Beaten and Raped for the Gospel

In the summer of 1998, a young woman from Sudan, Africa, was attacked, severely beaten, and raped by Muslims simply because she was wearing a cross. When she tried to escape, her throat was slit and she was bayoneted in the back. Her assailants ripped her dress off and proceeded to melt water bottles and pour the hot, liquid plastic onto her skin, leaving it in puddles and scarring her for life. She survived the brutal assault only to become pregnant by the horrible incident and is now raising her child.

600 Million Suffering People

Seventy-five percent of the world’s Christians live in third world nations — nations that are predominantly Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim. Persecution in many nations brings extortion, family division and separation, harassment, and discrimination in employment and education while over 600 million Christians live as second-class citizens in their societies.

Persecutions Forgotten

Beyond experiencing rejection when you talk about Jesus to an unsaved person, or dirty looks from someone who is put off by your praying in a public place, most of us in America have never known religious persecution. We have been so blessed to live in a culture where we are free to believe what we choose. Because of this, many of us have forgotten what those before us had to endure for us to have such religious freedom. We are free to enjoy our lives and our relationship with God.

The Complete Teaching

In the Western church today, "intimacy with Jesus" has become a sweet and oft-heard phrase echoing in church halls as believers quote from Philippians 3:10: "That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection…" but have you read the rest of the verse? The part which says: "and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death."

This irony is a powerful revelation – that intimacy comes through suffering! That is why Holy Spirit chose to use Paul not only to pen these words, but also to demonstrate them through his own life of suffering for the gospel.

Pacifying Theology

The Western church has developed a pacifying theology that suffering is not the will of God, but that it is Satan having his way in the life of a believer. Accusations in our hearts about God’s inability to alleviate pain and suffering in our lives will prevent us from embracing the Cross. But it we truly want to be one who is a Bride fit for her husband, we must be willing to do that which He did: lay down our lives for the sake of love.

Prayer: Father, help us to know your worthiness, so that we would lay anything down for you! Even as you laid down your life in love, help us to lay down all at the foot of the cross for you!

Great Awakening: Four Nights of Revival Meetings

Ministry Needs

We have undertaken several projects will will enable us to more efficiently run our ministry, allowing us to spend more time ministering in nations and cities around the globe. We would like to ask you to pray about contributing toward one or more of these projects:

  • Digital Camera - Nikon D-100 SLR -$2,000
This camera will allow us to chronicle our journeys so that we can provide followers of this ministry with pictorial accounts of the events we minister at. It will also allow us to photograph some great new products that we would like to offer through our website.
  • DVCAM/Mini-DV Video Camera - Sony DSR-PD150P - $4,000
It is our goal to be able to video tape our conferences and speaking engagements so that we can make videos available to you on video and for download!
  • Sony Tape Deck & Sound Editing Software - $650
This will allow us to digitally remaster our old and new teaching tapes, dramatically improving the audio quality of the tapes that we offer.
  • Tape Duplicator - Sony CCP-1300 - $1500
After years of faithful service, our in-office tape duplication machine has broken and we need to replace it.
  • Color Printer Duplexing Upgrade - Phaser 860 DP - $1000
Our color printer has been such an asset to the ministry! We have been able to produce our beautiful new tape album covers and various other printed materials. We would like to purchase an upgrade for this printer which will increase the resolution printing capabilities and enable two-sided printing.
  • QuarkXPress 5.0 (Passport Edition) Software - $500
Those of you who have a mailing address on file with us recently received our newly redesigned newsletter. The newsletter was professionally designed in QuarkXPress and we need to purchase this program in order to produce future newsletters in house.
